Level Diploma (First university degree):
Studies with the goal of a Licentiate/Diploma or a non-academic degree. According to the “Bologna-Guidelines” of the Swiss University Conference (SUC), the studies leading to a Licentiate/Diploma at UIT have been continuously replaced by the two-step Bachelor and Master studies.
Studies leading to a Bachelor’s Degrees. According to the guidelines of the SUC and the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), studies leading to a Bachelor’s Degree encompasses 180 ECTS points. This is equivalent to an average study time of 3 years (fulltime studies).
Studies leading to a Master’s Degree (excluding Master programs in the field of further education). According to the “Bologna-Guidelines” of the SUC, the studies leading to a Master’s Degree encompass 90 to 120 credit points. The average study time at fulltime studies varies from 1.5 to 2 years.
Studies leading to a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).
Level Further Education:
Study programs at UIT (for enforcement and specialization) of at least 60 ECTS credit points that lead to a title of Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) or Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA).
Students who are only temporarily enrolled at a particular UIT (foreign language stay, advanced training) and who will not take an exam (guest students); Students who are participating in a preparatory course for UIT to get the permit to access a UIT (e.g. course in specialized mathematics, additional ECTS-performance for the entrance at the Master level - Cours de mathématiques spéciales EPFL, zusätzliche ECTS-Leistungen für Eintritt auf Masterstufe).
